LET Results March 2024

Over 70,000 Pass the Licensure Exam Amidst Calls for Educational Reform

Manila, Philippines – In a resounding affirmation of the nation’s commitment to education, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT) have announced the results of the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) held on March 17, 2024. A total of 71,429 aspiring educators have successfully cleared this crucial hurdle, marking a significant milestone in their careers and contributing fresh impetus to the Philippine education system.

Out of 44,764 examinees, 20,890 elementary teachers (46.67%) passed the rigorous examination, demonstrating their readiness to shape the minds of the country’s youngest learners. Meanwhile, in the secondary level, 50,539 out of 85,980 examinees (58.78%) emerged victorious, poised to guide high school students through their formative years.

Fresh Blood and Seasoned Aspirants

The breakdown of successful examinees reveals a blend of new talent and persistent determination. Among the elementary teacher passers, 17,561 were first-time takers, showcasing the strength of initial teacher training programs. An additional 3,329 repeaters demonstrated resilience and commitment to their chosen profession. Similarly, in the secondary level, 41,787 first-timers joined the ranks of licensed teachers, alongside 8,752 repeaters who persevered in their pursuit of excellence.

BPT Leadership

The Board for Professional Teachers, under the stewardship of Chairman Dr. Rosita L. Navarro, Vice Chairman Dr. Paz I. Lucido, and Members Dr. Paraluman R. Giron and Dr. Nora M. Uy, oversaw the meticulous examination process. Their expertise and dedication ensured the integrity and fairness of the assessment, upholding the standards of the teaching profession.

Awaiting Final Determination

While the vast majority of examinees have received their results, the PRC has withheld the results of 36 individuals pending a final determination of potential violations of examination rules and regulations. This measure underscores the commission’s commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in the licensure process.

The release of the LEPT results comes at a critical juncture for Philippine education. As the country grapples with challenges such as learning gaps exacerbated by the pandemic, curriculum reforms, and the need for enhanced teacher training, the influx of newly licensed teachers represents a vital resource.

“These new teachers are entering the profession at a time when their skills and dedication are needed more than ever,” said Dr. Eleanor Reyes, a professor of education at the University of the Philippines. “They have the potential to be agents of change, driving innovation and improving learning outcomes for Filipino students.”

However, experts caution that licensure is just the first step. Ongoing professional development, mentorship programs, and supportive school environments are essential to ensure that these teachers thrive and contribute effectively to the education system.

The successful LEPT examinees now face the task of securing employment in public or private schools. As they embark on their teaching careers, they carry the hopes and aspirations of a nation that recognizes the transformative power of education.
