Historic Speed: October 2024 Physicians Licensure Exam Results Released in Record Three Days
MANILA, Philippines – In an unprecedented move that has sent waves of relief and celebration across the medical community, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced the results of the October 2024 Physicians Licensure Examination in a record-breaking three (3) working days.
The stunningly swift release, confirmed on the PRC’s official website, marks a significant departure from the traditional waiting period and sets a new benchmark for efficiency in the country’s professional licensing.
The results reveal that 3,845 aspiring physicians successfully passed the rigorous examination out of 6,600 examinees. The tests were administered earlier this month across multiple testing centers in the National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.
A New Era of Efficiency
The phrase “results will be released in a few working days” has long been a source of anxiety for thousands of examinees. The PRC’s ability to process, verify, and publish the results for one of the most critical licensure exams in just three days is being hailed as a monumental achievement in governmental efficiency and digital transformation.
“This is incredible. I was bracing for a week or more of nervous waiting. To see my name on the list so soon is a surreal and amazing feeling,” said one of the new passers, who requested anonymity. “It feels like the system is finally working for us.”
Oversight and Administration
The licensure examination was conducted under the supervision of the Board of Medicine, chaired by Dr. Zenaida L. Antonio. The members of the board are Dr. Godofreda V. Dalmacion, Dr. Martha O. Nucum, Dr. Efren C. Laxamana, Dr. Joanna V. Remo, and Dr. Prudencio Z. Sta. Lucia, Jr., who was listed as inhibited for the proceedings.
Next Steps for Successful Examinees
The PRC has outlined the next steps for the newly licensed doctors:
- Online Registration: Starting November 25, 2024, registration for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be conducted online via the official PRC website: www.prc.gov.ph.
- Requirements for Registration: Successful examinees must personally register and are required to bring the following:
- A downloaded and duly accomplished Oath Form (Panunumpa ng Propesyonal)
- Notice of admission (for identification purposes only)
- Two (2) passport-sized pictures with a white background and a complete name tag
- Two (2) sets of documentary stamps
- One (1) short brown envelope
- Oath-Taking Ceremony: The date and venue for the mass oathtaking ceremony for the new physicians will be announced by the PRC at a later date.
This record-fast release not only alleviates the immense psychological burden on examinees but also allows the healthcare system to welcome its new batch of doctors sooner, a crucial development as the country continues to bolster its medical workforce.
The 3,845 new physicians are now poised to take their professional oaths and begin their vital service to the nation, their path to healing having begun with a historically swift and welcome start.
